Lighthouse Grinders

A set of lighthouse spice grinders 11 and 9 inches tall

Lighthouse Spice Grinders

I thought that I would share with you a recent set of spice grinders that I made. These are Maple Burl spice grinders and are my version of a Maine lighthouse. I make up about 10 sets of these per year. I probably could make more but the Maple Burl starts out three inches thick and it needs to be dry. Finding dry burl that thick is difficult and drying it takes quite a while. I like to use Maple Burl in the lighthouse grinders because the burl pattern actually looks like stone work running up the grinders. The grinders are 11″ and 9″ tall. The base on these is 2 5/8″ in diameter. They really make a great conversation piece. The mechanism used inside is a CrushGrind mechanism and is a true spice grinder. Please let me know what you think.  Thanks.

    Hi Tom,

Thank you for the inquiry about the grinders. That set was delivered to the customer shortly after the picture was taken. They do make a stunning set. The reason I choose to do them in Maple Burl is because the burl looks like stone work that you might see on an actual lighthouse. I do have more Maple Burl here and can make up another set. The rarity of this size Maple Burl really drives the price on these. The 11″ tall one would be $200.00 and the 9″ tall one is $175.00 and the set would be $375.00. Any of them would come with free USPS Priority Mail shipping to anywhere in the United States. Unfortunately I’m leaving for a show on Monday and I wouldn’t be able to make them until mid-December. Please let me know if this works for you. I would love to make them for you.

    Kim
