100 bowls in 100 days

The other day I decided that I need a new challenge. So just like one of the great thinkers of our time, Winnie the Pooh, I sat down and kept hitting my head with my hand all the while repeating “Think, think, think”. And after a little while it came to me that hitting my head that many times just made it hurt and I think it was leaving a mark too. Not to mention how badly all the thinking was hurting my head. However I did finally come up with something. I love to turn bowls. All sorts of bowls, salad bowls, natural edge bowls, winged bowls and the list goes on. So I decided that I would make and show you 100 wooden bowls in 100 days.

So the bowl pictured here is my 1st wood bowl in the series of 100.  This bowl was turned from Curly Maple from right here in Maine. Most of the wood that I use to make my Maine made bowls is sustainably harvested from within just a few miles of my house located here in the Metropolis of Carthage, Maine.

This particular bowl has some great figure to it and the curl is fairly tight together. The bowl is 2 5/8 inches high by 9 inches in diameter. You can read more about this Curly Maple bowl here.

I hope that you enjoy this new series and challenge that I’ve planned for myself. As always, please let me know what you think.
