Couch to 5K
A while ago our oldest daughter challenged Mary and I to do a 5K on the 4th of July. We accepted the challenge and I actually started training on an elliptical but got sick and never started back up after getting better. So to make a long story short, I started doing the couch to 5K training this morning. I’m not under any illusion that I will be running the 5K on the 4th. Mary and I will be walking it while both of our daughters are planning on running it. My plan is to run an actual 5K this fall. So stay tuned for that. In case you just want to watch me walk or maybe you are interested in entering it yourself, we will be in Winthrop Maine doing the Friends on the 4th 5K.
So while I was out on Route 2 this morning doing the training, one of the things that I realized fairly quickly was that the drawstring on my sweatpants may be tight enough to walk around our home without a problem but not tight enough for running. After running a short distance I realized my sweatpants were starting to fall down. I don’t think they fell down far enough to moon any passersby but I apologize if anyone saw more than they were expecting to see on their way to work. I guess it could have been a case of seeing the moon over my hammy.
The mill that you see pictured above is a 6 inch Strout mill. The mill is available as either a salt mill or as a pepper mill. The mill is modeled after a mannequin. One summer when I was around 5 or 6 years old I went to spend some time with my older sister who was going to nursing school. The place where she was staying had a mannequin in one of the rooms and years later I thought it would make a great shape for a mill.
