The tale of two bowls

This morning I checked on some roughed out bowls that I had set aside to dry. Seven of the eight bowls were fine but one didn’t make it through the drying process. You can see in the photo above that the top bowl dried just fine but the bottom bowl didn’t make it through without cracking. Can you say, Bummer Dude?

Instead of turning the inside of my bowls into wood chips on my shop floor, I use curved cutters to core out the center of my bowls to produce more bowls . All six cores (three from each of these bigger bowls) came through just fine. So I will end up with 7 out of the 8 bowls in that group and I’m good with that.
